Family First Cafe

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I currently work as a Barista Training Manager, where I focus on developing baristas, improving beverage quality, and creating meaningful coffee experiences.

I’ve been competing at the national level since 2023.

I started with the UAE National Brewers Cup, where I placed 3rd.

In 2024–2025, I earned 1st place in the UAE National Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, and this year I also won the National Cezve/Ibrik Championship title.

I wanted to compete because competitions push you to grow in ways you don’t experience in everyday café life. They challenge your creativity, discipline, and connection to the community. Competing has helped me discover new perspectives and share more meaningful coffee stories.

I’m a barista mom! I often brew coffee with my son, Khalif, and we make fun videos together.

I started in coffee 12 years ago. What began simply as a job quickly turned into a passion, especially when I discovered how much joy there is in teaching others and diving deeper into coffee. Over time, that passion grew into a career in training, education, and competition.

What are you excited to do while you are in Dubai?

Since the WCC is hosted in Dubai, my second home, I’m incredibly excited to welcome coffee people from all over the world. There’s nothing quite like the energy of World of Coffee. It’s always the best time to connect, learn, and celebrate our shared passion for coffee.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Outside of coffee, I used to take swimming lessons and attend karate classes. These days, most of my time goes to my newborn baby girl and her big brother, we’re always together. Though to be honest, even our family time somehow ends up involving coffee. So technically… never really outside of coffee! 😄.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

There are truly so many people I’m grateful for.

First, our solid team from the very beginning, you’ve been the backbone of this journey.

To my husband, Kemal Risyad, thank you for tirelessly searching for the best coffee and for making sure our concept stays meaningful and true. Your love and support means everything.

To my coach, Romeo Perello, a legend. Honestly, no words are enough for what you’ve done. I’m simply grateful.

And to the A-team: Karen Perello, Windu, Purna, Jhonald, Gibson, Robin Ignacio, and the ever-supportive Frederick Bejo—thank you. Your support, encouragement, and belief in me carried me through every step.
