Encafeinados Micro-tostadores
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I have been working with coffee for 6 years, and this is my first time competing. Currently, I work as the Head Barista for Encafeinados Tostadores & Coffee Shop, and I am also a consultant and Head Barista for Nuova Simonelli Costa Rica. I entered the coffee world as an espresso machine technician, which inspired me to delve into barismo and constantly push my limits—ultimately leading me to compete as a way to challenge myself to improve day by day. Right now, I am also continuing my training in roasting and cupping.
What are you excited to do while you visit the Panama city?
I'm really excited about sharing the stage with the best baristas in the world and being close to the brands that are driving innovation in the industry.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I love learning new things and diving into research. I'm also deeply passionate about sports in general, and football in particular.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?
I would like to hugely thank the team at Encafeinados for believing in me from day one and encouraging me to compete; my friend Miguel for introducing me to specialty coffee; the Alvarado family for believing in me and trusting me with their finest coffees to present on stage; and finally, my family, who are the driving force behind my dreams without their unconditional support, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
