Please tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Kennedy Owino, a Head Barista at Amka Café, Mawimbi Seafood Restaurant and Kasa Resort in Malindi. I started my coffee journey in 2015 and have grown from a steward to a professional barista and competitor. I compete because I love learning, improving my skills and representing Kenya. I am also a two-time African Barista Champion.

What are you excited to do while you visit the Panama city?:

I’m excited to experience Panama’s coffee culture, meet coffee professionals from around the world, and learn more about Panama’s famous coffee origins. I would also love to experience the Panama Canal, explore the city and enjoy the local food and culture.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Outside coffee, I enjoy travelling, exploring new places, trying different foods, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.

I would like to thank my organizations, Amka Café, Mawimbi Seafood Restaurant and Kasa Resort, for always supporting me. A special thank you to my coaches, Martin Shabaya and Otile, and to Ahmed, who supported me every day and helped me see my show in a bigger way.
