Please tell us a little about yourself:

Professional Summary – Tibor Hámori

I am a coffee expert and barista with over two decades of deep-rooted experience and the winner of the 2025 Belgian Cup Tasters Championship. This victory is not only a major milestone in my career but also a qualification for the World Championships, where I will have the honor of representing Belgium.

I laid the foundations of my career in my hometown, Budapest, Hungary, where I graduated as an economist. This business mindset has guided my professional decisions ever since, allowing me to combine my passion for coffee with economic rationale and operational efficiency.

International Experience & Current Projects

Own Café Project (Belgium): I am currently developing my own café project, which is set to open in 2026. This venture will be the culmination of twenty years of professional expertise and my unwavering commitment to specialty coffee.

Caffenation (Antwerp): I moved to Antwerp, Belgium, in August 2022 and joined Caffenation, one of the city’s most influential roasteries and cafés, in September. As a barista here, I continue to expand my international experience at the forefront of the Belgian specialty coffee scene.

Key Career Milestones in Hungary

Gerbeaud Café: I took on the role of Head Barista at this prestigious, 160-year-old historic establishment to lead its transition into the modern era of coffee making. I provided the professional foundation and expertise necessary for this legendary institution to meet the highest contemporary standards of coffee culture.

Espresso Embassy: I spent seven years at one of Hungary’s first and most influential specialty coffee shops. This period was pivotal for my career; it was here that I gained the extensive knowledge and experience—both in hospitality and coffee expertise—that define my professional background. As a member of the management team, I also developed complex economic tracking systems while managing recipe development.

Professional Philosophy

To me, coffee is an art form where the hard work of many people is concentrated into a single cup. As a triathlete, I treat the discipline, focus, and perseverance gained from sports as core values in my daily work, my championship preparations, and the upcoming 2026 café opening. My philosophy is that the perfect guest experience is created at the intersection of precise technology, sensory expertise, and conscious business management.

What are you excited to do while you visit the WCC city?

I am excited to witness the world-class coffee competitions and see the world’s best tasters in action at the WCC. I also look forward to exploring Bangkok’s renowned specialty roasters to discover how they blend local Thai coffee culture with modern roasting techniques.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Beyond coffee, I’m a dedicated triathlete with a strong sense of discipline and goal focus. I’m passionate about food, culture, film and music. Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?
