Please tell us a little about yourself:
I’m Gianluca from Il Manovale, a micro roastery in southern Italy. I’ve been working in coffee for several years and love everything about roasting — the challenge, the precision, and the creativity. Competing is a great way to learn, grow, and connect with other passionate people in the industry.
What are you excited to do while you are in Houston?
I’m excited to meet other competitors, experience the local coffee scene, and enjoy the atmosphere of the event. And of course, I’m looking forward to exploring the city, eating good food, and having a great time!
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I enjoy spending time with my family, discovering great food and wine, and listening to music. I’m also passionate about anime and manga, and I love exploring the creative world behind them. Plus, I have a thing for design and cozy coffee spaces.

I’d like to thank my amazing team at Il Manovale, especially my business partner Giovanni, for always having my back. A huge shoutout to our customers who support us every day, and to my coach Nicola Battista, who helped me focus and improve throughout the training. I’m really grateful to be part of this community!
