Andreas Harestad, Norway

Independent

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I'm Andreas Harestad, or Harest as a lot of people call me. I, like most people here I would guess, love great coffee but especially sharing great coffee, which was what made me interested in competitions in the first place.

What are you excited to do while you are in Jakarta?

Like always when I travel, meeting new people, find the amazing coffee shops and eating so much wonderful food I've never gotten to try before

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I have quite a few hobbies, but everything that involves experiencing flavor experiences is my main one, from wine, food, coffee, tea, beers etc.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

I really want to thank Lance Hedrick, he's been nice enough to coach me all the way from when I started.

I want to thank all my fellow competitors in the Norwegian competition scene who despite being competitors are always the nicest people helping out with both brew recipe and notes, I genuine don't think I could've won without input from them

And last but most important of all, I want to thank the teams at El Placer, who got me through regionals this year, and at Finca Soledad, who got me the win in Nationals. Bringing the judges an amazing tasting experience on stage is only possible thanks to the amazing producers of coffee I get to compete with, I'm just doing my best to live up to all the hard work they put in.
