Please tell us a little about yourself:
I started working in coffee almost a decade ago as a barista, really only to make some friends and earn some money whilst studying, not knowing it would become a huge passion. Since then, I've worked in various different parts of the industry, and got into competing two years ago. I was inspired to try Brewers Cup, as I saw my peers around me competing, and felt like I was finally at a point in my life and career where I was in a good position to give it a try, and challenge myself. I won third place in my first Brewers Cup, and since then I really caught the bug and love the challenge, excitement, learning, and connection that competition brings. As I'm growing into who I am as a competitor, I am developing a better idea of topics that I feel very strongly about, one of those being representation of women in coffee. In 2024, I co-founded She Brews Collective, with the mission to empower and connect women in all parts of the coffee industry. This mission fuels me to do my best at competition, and be a part of showcasing this on the world stage.
What are you excited to do while you are in Jakarta?
I'm excited to have some amazing food and explore, I've never been to Asia before so I will take this opportunity to adventure!
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I'm really into baking, I am quite known amongst my friends to be the one to bring a basque burnt cheesecake or some lemon saffron bars to the cafe's they work at.
Other than that play football at a pretty amateur level, I love running, play guitar and piano (but you'll never hear it, that's just for me and my neighbours), and I also love mixology for my quarterly pop-up LATES.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank?
I'd like to thank my coach, Danny, for stepping into this journey with me, not knowing where it would lead us, and for sticking by me throughout all the ups and downs. He's seen my highest highs and lowest lows, and it's been so much fun to get to do this with my best friend.
I'd like to also thank my team at Wildkaffee for all the endless support, because of the belief they have in me and resources they have offered, I have really felt like there are no limits to what is possible.
A big thank you to my girls at She Brews Collective. I am so proud of this tight knit community that we are building where women support women, and I got so much mental and emotional support which was really necessary to process some difficult and complex emotions that came up throughout my training. It's because of these women that I feel I have a real purpose to get up there and do it.
Lastly, I'd like to thank my family, especially my parents. They've gone from not really understanding why I keep choosing to work in coffee, to seeing that this is my passion and supporting me in all my dreams. It means a lot to get to show them my world more and more, and have them be a part of it.
