About the Role
WCC Calibration Baristas play a crucial role in the Judge Certification (JC) and Judge Calibration processes. JC events usually take place over two full days, a week before a WCC event, with occasional standalone events. As a JC Barista, you’ll perform routines in two WCC categories multiple times over two days. You’ll plan and prepare extensively, manage logistics, and attend planning meetings. Travel to JC events and staying for the WCC may be required. Larger equipment is provided, but baristas must bring their own smallwares and ingredients.
Judge Calibrations occur two to three days before a WCC and last two to three days. As a Calibration Barista, you’ll deliver tailored routines for the active WCC event, often performing multiple times in one day. Baristas must bring their own smallwares and ingredients, while larger equipment is supplied.
Qualifications
Applicants must have competed in at least one national or world competition and have two competition-ready routines suitable for events like WBC or WBrC. Strong organizational skills, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and experience managing logistics are essential. A background in specialty coffee and willingness to travel are also required.
