Qinru (Catherine) Gu

Catherine (Qinru) Gu currently lives in China and frequently travels around the world each year. Catherine has been in the coffee industry since 2012.

Catherine started to judge competitions in 2015, became a WCC Certified Judge in 2018, and has been a Head Judge in the World Brewers Cup finals since 2018.

Living in China, Catherine interacts with hundreds of competitors each year, which gives her the privilege of gaining a lot of competition experience. Over the years she has participated in the competitions including Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Catherine owns a green coffee company, Ecofarm Coffee, which specializes in specialty lots, and has invested in purchasing a farm in Colombia. She travels yearly based on the harvest seasons in the major coffee growing regions.

Catherine focuses on coffee sensory skills and sees herself as a link in communicating with farms in improving coffee quality.
