Minwook Jeong, South Korea
T.O.CH COFFEE
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I work as a barista at a café called T.O.CH Coffee in Seoul, South Korea, and I've been in the coffee industry for about 7-8 years. I prepared for cupping competitions for around three years, starting because I wanted to develop my sensory skills. That period turned out to be when I experienced the most growth.
What are you excited to do while you visit the WCC city?
This will be my first visit to Thailand, so I'm really excited. I previously had a great time doing a Thai roastery cupping session in Korea, which makes me even more excited to visit roasteries in Bangkok this time. Since it's a global coffee event, I'm especially looking forward to meeting roasteries from all over the world at the WOC venue.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I don't think I have many major hobbies or interests outside of coffee. However, I'm definitely trying to find more interests to broaden my perspective.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?
First, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to my teammates Siwoon Lab. We trained together for about a year, and thanks to them, I truly enjoyed the process and was able to achieve great results, which brought me all the way to this world competition.
I would also like to thank the many companies and former
Korean champions who supported me while I was preparing for the world competition in Korea.
Lastly, I want to give a special thanks to the CEO of T.O.CH Coffee and all my colleagues. Even while handling a busy schedule of events, they supported me and filled in for my absence, and I'm truly grateful for their encouragement.
