Chumeca

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am a member of the La Chumeca micro-mill family, where my father is a fourth-generation coffee producer. At La Chumeca, I work in quality control, sales, and as a barista. I have been competing since 2020, where I have participated three times in the Cup Taster. I am motivated to compete because I can learn even more in each competition and further develop my skills. In addition to competing in the Cup Taster, I have also competed in brewers' competitions, winning first place in regional competitions and second place in the Costa Rica Brewers Championship.

What are you excited to do while you are in Geneva?

To be able to experience a culture different from our own, from the perspective of a coffee consumer in a producer country to a country that consumes our product. For this reason, we will visit different places, share experiences and knowledge, and continue to grow in the coffee world, which always improves the entire coffee industry.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

I thank my family, including my dad, mom, siblings, friends, SCA Costa Rica, Sergio Astua, and many others who supported me in reaching this moment and competing as I always have: happy, dedicated, passionate, and excited.
