Magnus Vilmann, Denmark

Coffee Collective

Please tell us a little about yourself:

Hello, my name is Magnus Vilmann.

I currently work at Coffee Collective, where I’ve been since the beginning of my specialty coffee journey three and a half years ago. My introduction to the world of specialty coffee came through a family member—Jonas Gehl, one of the founders of Prolog Coffee.

Day to day, I serve as an assistant manager at one of Coffee Collective’s bars, where I help ensure great coffee and hospitality.

Last year marked my first experience in competition, and this year is my second time participating. I truly enjoy the Cup Tasters format and plan to continue competing in it—it’s a lot of fun. I’m also exploring the possibility of entering the Brewers competition in the coming year.

It’s a great honour to represent Denmark on the world stage.

What are you excited to do while you are in Geneva?

I’m especially looking forward to being part of World of Coffee and connecting with fellow coffee enthusiasts.

I’m also excited to experience Geneva, as I’ve never properly visited—only passed through for connecting flights or trips to nearby ski resorts

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Coffee is a big part of my life, naturally, but outside of that, music takes second place. I’ve been playing guitar for the past 14 years, and most of my days revolve around coffee and music.

The rest of my time I spend with my partner—so I suppose she counts as one of my interests too.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

I’d like to thank everyone at Coffee Collective who has supported me—through advice, training, and encouragement in many different ways.

A special thanks to co-founder Klaus Thomsen, who’s been incredibly supportive throughout the entire process.
