Butterworth and Son Coffee Roasters
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I work for Butterworth and Son Coffee Roastery in Suffolk, England. This is my first year competing in any SCA level competition. I wanted to compete to push myself further in my field. I’ve been a QC for less than 2 years and wanted to see how far I would get in the competition.
I got into the coffee industry through my first job as a barista almost a decade ago. After many years loving and making coffee, I made the jump to work at the roastery who supplied the beens to my previous place of work. I then fell into the role as head of quality control and sensory.
Fun fact: in my spare time I collect and make my own perfumes. I have been doing this for around 5 years and absolutely love it. My favourite perfume is Chanel Antaeus from 1981. My favourite film is The Lighthouse (2019) by Robert Eggars. My favourite album is “Heroine”by Thornhill.
What are you excited to do while you are in Geneva?
To indulge in the culture and sights to see. Drink plenty of coffee and take plenty of pictures of the beautiful country.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
Perfumery. Creating my own perfumes at home.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank?
Sophie, my partner. She has been my source of comfort and stability throughout. My biggest supporter and best asset.
Rob Butterworth, my boss. For facilitating my growth and supporting me throughout.
