Please tell us a little about yourself:

I'm running my own business (Sabino Roastery), I also visit the Coffee Farms looking for expand the contact with high quality producers and I distribute Brazilian coffees all over the world with my partner and also competitor Hugo Silva. I use to compete since 2012 and I love it. I won the barista 2 times in Brazil (2014/18) and CIGS once (2014). Now, I’m very happy and proud of represent Brazil in World Brewers Cup as a Champion. I think that I started to compete because it was a big oportunity. It’s funny. Despite of my last job in shows i was very shy and make a speech used to be very tought to me. So, the Coffee Championship was a great oportunity to develop myself as professional and personally. This is my fun fact: I worked in the Cirque de Soleil from 2006 to 2008 and when I decided to leave the Cirque, a Director asked me if I wanna work in Otavio Café. I really didn’t know if this job would work, because up till this time, I didn’t like drink coffee. But after start the job and understand a little bit more, the coffee change my whole life and I fell in love with everything that involves coffee industry.

What are you excited to do while you are in Jakarta?

Can’t wait to know a little more about the specialty coffee culture in Indonesia and also about the gastronomy and local traditions.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I practice brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and when I’m not in the mat or making some coffee, I love to spend some time with my 3 daughters.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

First of all, a really special thank for my wife Nathalia and my 3 daughters (Antonella, Lorena and Flora). They always gave me support and to much love all this time and made my job easier. I also wanna thank my friends and competitors Hugo Silva and Edson Maisonnette and my partner Roberto Polillo who helped me on my training sessions to develop myself for this competition. Special mention for Pedro Brás not only to provide the coffee beans, but for keep the farm doors opened all this time to test a lot of wonderful coffees and have amazing reasults. I have a lot of people to thank, but I’ll do it personally. For everybody that helped and supported me, thank you so much.
