Rules & Regulations Released for the 2026 World Cup Tasters Championship in Bangkok

The World Coffee Championships (WCC) is pleased to announce the publication of the 2026 World Cup Tasters Championship (WCTC) Rules and Regulations, setting the foundation for the next edition of this globally recognized sensory competition. The 2026 World Cup Tasters Championship, presented by Porland, will be held at World of Coffee Bangkok, May 7–9, 2026, at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), marking the first time the championship will take place in Thailand.

Bangkok offers an exceptional stage for the world’s top coffee tasters. The World Cup Tasters Championship is a rigorous test of sensory precision, where competitors distinguish taste differences in specialty coffees under significant time pressure and awards the professional coffee cupper who demonstrates top speed, skill, and accuracy. As the specialty coffee community across Southeast Asia continues its rapid growth, hosting the WCTC in Bangkok highlights the region’s expanding influence and provides a dynamic setting for competitors, coaches, and global consumers.

The updated 2026 WCTC Rules and Regulations introduce clarifications to reinforce fairness and consistency. Competitors must clearly call “time” to ensure accurate recording, and only the time officially documented by the timekeeper and/or head judge will be used for scoring. Additionally, any active competition appeals that are publicly discussed before a final ruling is issued will be dismissed to maintain the integrity of the adjudication process.

These refinements reflect WCC’s ongoing commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the continued elevation of global coffee competition standards.
