Rules & Regulations Released for the 2025 World Barista Championship in Milan
The Specialty Coffee Association is delighted to release updated Rules & Regulations for the 2025 World Barista Championship (WBC). The 2025 WBC will take place October 17-21, 2025 at HostMilano. HostMilano, held at Fiera Milano (Rho), is the global epicenter for the Horeca and Food Service industry. This set of rules and regulations finalizes the suite of rules for each of the seven World Coffee Championships taking place in 2025: World 2025 World Coffee Roasting Championships at Specialty Coffee Expo Houston April 25-27, 2025, World Brewers Cup at World of Coffee Jakarta May 15-17, 2025, and the World Latte Art, World Coffee in Good Spirits, World Cup Tasters Championships and Cezve/Ibrik Championship at World of Coffee Geneva, from June 26-28, 2025.
This round of updates primarily outlines alignment of the competitor registration and complaint procedures with other World Coffee Championships, now requiring submissions via an online form, the definition of espresso has been updated for greater flexibility, and additional details on penalties clarify common practices to ensure consistency in judging. Additionally, in alignment with all 2025 World Coffee Championships, the appeals and complaints process at both Competition Body and World-level events has been streamlined, now requiring submissions via an online form.
In addition, 2025 marks a remarkable milestone for the World Barista Championship (WBC) as it proudly celebrates its 25th edition. This year, we honor this extraordinary journey and pay tribute to the many hands who have shaped this prestige coffee competition over the past quarter-century.
