Please tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Michael Fawzy, the Egypt Brewers Cup Champion for 2025 and 2026. I work at Easy Roastery, specializing in brewing, roasting, and sensory analysis. I started competing to challenge myself and to share my passion for coffee through both technical excellence and storytelling. I’m passionate about coffee processing, water chemistry, and discovering new ways to enhance the coffee experience. Representing Egypt on the world stage is a true honor, and I’m proud to be part of the global coffee community.

What are you excited to do while you visit Brussels?

I’m excited to connect with coffee professionals from around the world, exchange knowledge and experiences, and represent Egypt on the global stage. I’m also looking forward to exploring the local coffee culture, meeting inspiring people, and learning from some of the best competitors in the world.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Outside of coffee, I enjoy traveling, exploring different cultures, and continuously learning about science, psychology, and human performance. I’m also passionate about personal development and finding creative ways to connect ideas from different fields to coffee.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?

I would like to thank my team at Easy Roastery for their continuous support throughout my journey. I’m also deeply grateful to my family, especially my brother, whose encouragement and belief in me have always pushed me forward. I hope to make him proud as I represent Egypt on the world stage.

What is your favorite coffee brewing method and why?

My favorite brewing method is pour over, particularly using a flat bottom dripper. I enjoy the clarity, balance, and control it provides, allowing me to showcase a coffee’s sweetness, complexity, and unique flavor profile with precision.
