Please tell us a little about yourself:

I’m Ethan, and I work at MOMOS COFFEE in Busan, Korea.

I entered the specialty coffee industry with a singular mission: the advancement of coffee culture. I believe that true progress requires collaboration not just within our industry, but across diverse fields. To bridge these worlds, I recognized the need for both expertise and influence, which is exactly why I decided to compete. I am particularly drawn to manual brewing because it offers a unique approachability and beautifully demonstrates true craftsmanship. Continuing this journey with the ambition to represent coffee culture on the World Brewers Cup stage is a vital step for me.

For me, competition is both a goal and a means: a platform to communicate the possibilities of coffee and its cultural value on a global stage.

What are you excited to do while you visit Brussels?

Since my mission is the advancement of coffee culture through collaboration, I am incredibly excited to connect with the vibrant European coffee community in Brussels. I look forward to visiting local specialty cafes, experiencing Belgium's rich culinary traditions, and sharing ideas with professionals from diverse backgrounds outside of the competition stage.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I am deeply interested in exploring various cultural fields, such as art, design, music, photography and gourmets. Since my goal is to advance coffee culture through cross-industry collaboration, I spend my free time experiencing these different fields to broaden my perspective and gain fresh insights.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my dedicated team MOMOS. Their presence made a significant difference in my preparation for this competition. Preparing together allowed for deeper analysis, more objective feedback, and ultimately helped me deliver a much more refined and confident presentation. I couldn't have achieved this without their incredible support.
