Please tell us a little about yourself:
This year's nationals were my second roasting competition as the main participant however, I have been involved in many competitions as a coach or support staff over the past few years. It is truly fascinating to observe how fast and dynamic the environment we all work in is, and how each year brings something new and innovative.
While I previously acted as a production roaster, I am now focused on the green coffee buying process and production quality control, which together encompass nearly all aspects of the coffee roasting competition, making it a perfect occasion to assess the skills and industry knowledge I have acquired so far.
What are you excited to do while you are in Houston?
I would like to attend a Houston Rockets NBA game and also to visit a few specialty cafés in the town.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
I mostly enjoy my free time outdoors with my family and our two doggos: an Australian Shepherd named Rosie and a Jack Russell named Agatha. The High Tatras and the Dolomites are our favorite destinations in Europe.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank?
Definitely my wife Sona, who has been so supportive over the years we have spent in the specialty coffee world and our competition team including Jozef and David.
