One Half Coffee Roastery
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I work for One Half Coffee in Malaysia, where we manage several coffee brands: One Half Coffee, One Half Coffee Roastery, and Tri-Up Coffee SEA (a green coffee bean company).
I competed in the Malaysia Barista Championship in 2020 and 2022. This year marks my first time competing in both the national Brewers Cup and the world stage.
Coffee competitions are really fun and exciting because each time I compete, I get the chance to explore more about the world of coffee. I also get to share our passion and showcase the work we’re doing with our brands to the coffee community through these competitions. My Brewers Cup journey started unintentionally in 2023 when I assisted my colleagues, Jayden and Aaron, in their preparation for our national Brewers Cup. I was amazed by the incredible brewing ideas and dedication they brought to the championship. This year, I competed myself—and won the championship. I hope that through my journey, I can inspire the coffee community, just as I was inspired— not only in terms of competition but also by encouraging more people to join and engage with the community.
What are you excited to do while you are in Jakarta?
I’m mainly planning to chill, maybe check out some local food spots and a bit of cafe hopping to explore the coffee scene
What are your interests outside of coffee?
For holidays, I usually prefer camping, but during my regular off-shift time, I prefer watching TV series
