EspressoLab / DegasCafé

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I work at Degas Café and lead a project called EspressoLab. I’ve been competing for 10 years, and this is my third time on the world stage. For me, competition is a unique way to grow—both personally and professionally. Since I began, I’ve improved my skills, built meaningful connections with people from all over the world, and shared unforgettable experiences through coffee. I see competition as an opportunity to express who you are and what you hope to contribute to the industry. My journey began in a café, knowing nothing about coffee—and, at that time, not even liking it as a drink. But it was the incredible people around coffee who made me fall in love with it, and they continue to inspire me today.

What are you excited to do while you are in Milan?

After Mexican food, my favorite cuisine is Italian—so I’m very excited to enjoy authentic Italian dishes while I’m in Milan, and of course, visit as many cafés as I can to experience the city’s coffee culture.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I love being surrounded by nature—whether it’s in the mountains, relaxing by a lake, or enjoying time at the beach, that’s my happy place outside of coffee. :)

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

So many people! First of all, my boss Emerico, who has supported me so much—I’m grateful to be achieving this together. To my coaches, Jill and Ben, for guiding me through every step of this journey. And to my family—José Manuel, Melanie, Giancarlo, and my auntie Lety—and my friends, for always believing in me and cheering me on.
