Lab CNC

Please tell us a little about yourself:

Hello, my name is Misun Lim, and I am the Strategic Marketing Director at 'LabCNC', Laboratory of Coffee and Chemist. I’m also a Pathfinder barista, continuously guiding LabCNC's direction from the very beginning. Currently, our operations are based in Korea, a small peninsula, but we are ultimately aiming to expand globally. Through our coffee business, we look forward to working together with you to promote CSR, education, and hygiene on a global scale. We always remember that coffee is a gift from nature, a blessing from the heavens, and we are building our Brand Identity in line with this belief.

What are you excited to do while you are in Milan?

This is my first time in Europe, and to top it off, my first European destination is Italy! How can I not be excited? It’s the city of beautiful art, the land of espresso, home to Romeo and Juliet, and of course, the charming and well-mannered Italian people! And to top it all off, I’m here as a representative of Korea, competing in the World Barista Championship! Can you imagine how thrilling, exciting, and nerve-wracking it is? I’m really looking forward to experiencing espresso in its birthplace, Italy. Tasting espresso where it all began is a dream come true. Also, I can’t wait to have a good meal with my coaches, share our stories, and create unforgettable memories together.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Outside of coffee, I have two secret weapons for surviving busy life: futsal and the piano. Futsal is my way of kicking stress away. It’s fast, intense, and honestly, it’s the perfect excuse to eat more carbs later! On the other side, when I need to breathe and reset, I sit down at the piano. Playing melodies helps me organize my thoughts and calm my heart. So basically, I run wild on the futsal field, and find peace at the piano. That’s how I keep my balance.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank?

MY Family for Life
When I reflect on the journey I’ve walked, I believe it’s all grace. Becoming who I am today is a gift. I owe everything to my family, who have always supported and nurtured me throughout my life. They raised me with love, helped me embrace my strengths, and were my unwavering cheerleaders, offering prayers and encouragement every morning and evening. Every step of my journey has been graced by their presence and support. I am truly grateful for them. To my precious family—my mom, Mihyeon, Jae-kwang, my father who watches over me from above, and my grandmother.

MY Family in Law
Though I am in Korea now, my heart and eyes are here in Milan, Italy, with my beloved other half, Seonghwa. Thank you for being patient, enduring through all the practice hours that far surpassed the time we spent together, and for supporting me through it all. I love you.

My Family in Time
I’ve been fortunate to reach the pinnacle of what I love—coffee. I want to express my deepest gratitude to my coaches, Youngmin Lee, Sunhee Yoon, and Chayoun Kim. They have spend 78,840 hours spend me that the true value of specialty coffee lies not just in skill, but in happiness. I also want to thank my amazing team at LabCNC for their hard work and support, especially during my absence.
