Christian (Junheng) Chen

Christian (Junheng) Chen began his journey in the coffee industry as a part-time barista in 2011, while still a university student. What started as a simple job gradually grew into a deep interest, motivating him to explore various aspects of the specialty coffee world.

As the founder of Encore Coffee, Christian focuses on sensory exploration and coffee education. He created the Coffee Sensory Archetypes Test, a system that identifies 32 sensory archetypes using 10 letters. This tool helps individuals understand their sensory strengths and supports businesses in aligning their products with customer preferences.

Beyond coffee, Christian enjoys snowboarding, a hobby that reflects his openness to challenges and exploration. This mindset informs his work in coffee, where he is dedicated to fostering knowledge, creativity, and talent.

Christian has been involved in coffee competitions since 2014, serving as a judge, organizer, and mentor. He values the opportunities these events provide for learning and building connections. Through Encore Coffee and his contributions to the coffee community, Christian aims to inspire curiosity and encourage others to discover the diverse world of coffee.
