Please tell us a little about yourself:

I’m Wenbo Yang, and I’m based in the Seattle area. I work in coffee through roasting, bar service, and training, and coffee has shaped a big part of my life for many years now.

I started competing because I truly love coffee and wanted to keep going deeper. For me, competition is never just about results. It’s a way to learn, reflect, and push myself to a higher level every year. It keeps reminding me why I started in the first place.

A fun fact about me is that when I first came to the U.S., I could barely speak English. I learned step by step in school, at work, and through daily conversations in coffee shops. In many ways, coffee gave me a path forward, and that’s a big reason why it still means so much to me today.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

I enjoy writing outside of coffee. It helps me organize my thoughts and gives my mind more space to reflect and create.
