D·Origen Coffee Roasters

Please tell us a little about yourself:

Hi, I’m co‑founder of D·Origen Coffee, a specialty coffee company my brother and I started almost 14 years ago in Spain.

Over these years, I’ve worked in almost every part of the business: from barista behind the bar, to roasting, sales, technical service and now managing the company’s purchasing and technical areas. I entered the competition world about two and a half years ago and since then I’ve won the Spanish coffee tasting championship (SCA Cup Tasters) two years in a row, which has been a great way to showcase the experience and love for coffee built over more than a decade.

What pushed me to compete was the desire to challenge myself and demonstrate, on stage and under pressure, the level of focus, sensory discipline and respect for the product that guide my daily work. I actually got into coffee thanks to my brother, who invited me to join the project at the very beginning, and what started as “helping out” became a full‑time journey that has taken me from the bar to national titles and now to representing Spain on the international stage.

What are you excited to do while you visit the WCC city?

I’m excited to explore Bangkok’s specialty coffee scene and visit some local cafés and roasteries while I’m there. Since it’s my first time in the city, I’m also looking forward to getting to know Bangkok better, walking around different neighborhoods and trying the local food. After the competition, I plan to stay a few extra days to relax, disconnect, and enjoy Thailand at a slower pace.

What are your interests outside of coffee?

Outside of coffee, I love traveling and discovering new places, especially through local food and new flavors. I really enjoy eating out and trying different cuisines, whether it’s street food or more refined restaurants.

I also like to spend time in the mountains skiing whenever I get the chance, because it helps me disconnect and recharge. But above all, my favorite moments are the simple ones: being with my family and sharing time with my son.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?

I would like to thank my wife for always supporting me, my brother for introducing me to coffee and bringing me into the business, and Javi, my trainer, along with the whole D·Origen Coffee team.
