Tan Yi Xin, Singapore
Starbucks Coffee Singapore Pte Ltd
Please tell us a little about yourself:
I’ve been working in the coffee industry since 2017, and am currently a store manager and member of the coffee leadership team in Starbucks Coffee Singapore. This is my second time representing Singapore on the world stage.
The coffee industry continues to amaze me with how humble and open everyone is, and I’m just here to learn more and connect with everybody.
What are you excited to do while you visit the WCC city?
I’m not a rice-person, but I really want to eat a lot of rice in Bangkok because in my opinion rice from Thailand is the sweetest and most delicious rice in the world.
Once the competition is over, I also want to burn my tastebuds off with all the intensely spicy and sour dishes that Bangkok has to offer, because the Thai are just ~so good~ at doing food right.
What are your interests outside of coffee?
Strawberry jam, cats and books.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCC?
To my partner Ralph for his unwavering support during my competition practice all these years; to my family for their understanding regarding my erratic schedules; to my store for holding the fort and letting me have time off from work to train for this competition; to Singapore’s vibrant coffee community for always inspiring me to be better; and finally, to Jason my dedicated coach and the whole Starbucks Singapore company for always supporting us in our endeavors.
